Computype Announces Expansion of European Manufacturing Facility
Computype Europe relocates to a larger facility
to better serve customers on both sides of the ocean.
St. Paul, MN (November 28, 2011) – Prudent companies often require two approved sources for critical components. That was the rationale for Computype, Inc., a St. Paul, Minnesota-based supplier of barcode and RFID-based labeling solutions, to acquire a second manufacturing site in the UK in the mid-1980s. That company, based in Kingston-upon-Hull in the UK, has outgrown its original building and recently relocated to a new facility.
Charlie Westling, CEO of Computype, Inc., said that global growth was the catalyst for this relocation. “Our business has expanded in both the US and Europe. And many of our customers would suffer serious consequence if the supply of our critical identification products was disrupted. Moving to an enhanced facility in Hull made sense for us, because it enables us to better serve customers in both Europe and North America. We can now provide all our customers with the same unique engineered label and automation solutions produced with the same technology, regardless of the plant of origin.”
John Newton, Managing Director of Computype Europe, is excited about the new facility, and also looking forward to more progress in the near future: “Later this year our investment will continue as we install a new coating line and upgrade our finishing processes.
