Cab SQUIX Printer Review (Benefits, Features, & Cost) (1)

The cab SQUIX is a fairly new printer that our experts have come to love and promote throughout our business. At Computype, we are proud of our expertise in barcode label printers, printer processes, and printer troubleshooting. Our team has extensive knowledge of a variety of makes and models of label printers and has over 40 years of experience ensuring these printers work in various applications.

Computype is a licensed distributor of the cab SQUIX printer. We actively promote and provide cab printers to our customers because we believe in their quality and performance

While we would not sell this particular series of printers unless we thought them to be a top-notch product, we will be as objective as possible in this article to provide you the transparency you need to make an informed purchasing decision.

The cab SQUIX series is comprised of three different versions and three different sizes. Today, we will be taking a deep dive into the cab SQUIX P.

Benefits & Features of the cab SQUIX P

The cab SQUIX P printer is an affordable and versatile thermal transfer label printer that proves successful in various environments and applications.

The amount of capabilities that this printer has is unmatched by any other label printer. The “P” in cab SQUIX P stands for peel; this means that peel and present is an option in this printer enhancing the ease of use for the operator. With its modular construction, you can add a cutter, perforator, stacker, and you can even convert this barcode printer into an applicator.

As mentioned above, you can transform this printer into an applicator as well. It is print and apply capable, which increases throughput, and removes the tedious task of label application for your skilled employees.

There are many options when it comes to how you want to print your labels: you can hook up to the network, print from an information system, connect via USB, or print labels with a stored format. You can even connect and print from a mobile device!

The construction of this printer promotes ease of use for the user with the LCD display, bi-fold door, and color coded adjustments.

The LCD display on the printer mimics an iPhone display—very easy to use, easy to understand, and comprehensive to most users. On the LCD screen, you have access to various tutorial videos, allowing you to have the instructions for proper use of the printer right at your fingertips. The bi-fold door of the printer allows the printer to be put in a tight spot while still promoting easy access to change consumables or adjust the printer.

The color coded adjustments make the construction very easy to understand:

  • Any green adjustment is a tracking adjustment
    • Tracking adjustments ensure that your label prints to the best of its ability.
  • Red adjustments are media tracking adjustments
    • Red Adjustments ensure that the actual materials to be printed on the label are in place and ready.

If a label were to get stuck or there is adhesive buildup on your media sensor, your printer will notify you. Once you have been notified, you are able to simply open the printer, fix the problem, and reinsert the labels for quick restart printing.

Finally, the cab SQUIX P allows for reduced label inventory by giving you the ability to store formats that can be recalled at any time. Additionally, if you only need a small quantity of labels, you could print as little as one roll at a time.

As with any piece of equipment, there are indeed some limitations that our experts have noticed.

While the bi-fold cover proves very nifty and convenient to access the internal components of the printer, it is plastic. Our experts wish that it was metal for industrial applications, as it would be stronger and able to withstand harsher treatment.

There is a tool in the internal part of this printer that allows for an operator to adjust the printhead and pressure. In the wrong hands, the printer can be misadjusted, causing printing issues without anyone noticing. We recommend this tool be removed and kept with a trusted employee to avoid this from happening.

Lastly, as the bi-fold cover opens so simply, some tend to leave it open and use it as a shelf to put things on. This printer is meant to operate with the cover closed, so do your best to consciously keep it that way. This helps prevent dust or lint from making its way to your labels, and keeps the printer clean and in working order for the long haul.

The cab SQUIX P is the “Jack of all trades” printer in Computype experts’ opinion. You can use it in industrial environments, and it is beneficial in the healthcare market for printing small labels, such as ones that will go on tubes. It is also easily used in manufacturing where someone may be handling and labeling products at the same time.

We are well aware that cost is always a major consideration when making an investment in equipment such as a barcode label printer. However, cab takes pride in offering this multi-functional printer at an affordable cost. The starting price for this printer is around $2,100, but can increase depending on your intended specifications and added features. cab products are only available through their distribution partners, such as Computype.

Final Verdict

The cab SQUIX P is a thermal transfer barcode label printer that offers much versatility and high quality output. The options with this printer seem endless, and it is one that will suit your needs in the present and the future. We hope that this review gives you an objective look at the benefits and features, along with the limitations, so you have a better idea of its ability to suit your processes.
