What is Direct Thermal Print Technology? (in 100 Words or Less)

Direct Thermal print technology utilises a heated printhead and heat reactive paper. The heat reactive paper darkens as the printhead intermittently heats the paper to create the desired image.

This print technology is commonly used on items with a short lifespan such as shipping labels and receipts. It’s suitable for these types of applications because it can provide a high resolution image at a low cost, however it’s not very durable. The paper is sensitive to liquid, heat, abrasion and extended light exposure, which carries risk to extended exposure and harsher applications.
