An industrial quality printer to keep your blood collection processes compliant & flowing
A few factors combine to make the ZT series printers ideal for blood collection and processing facilities, including their width capacities, high-volume printing capabilities and RFID opportunities.
ISBT-128 Blood labels are typically 4 inches or less in width, and not all printers are capable of printing up to 4 inches. The ZT is available in print widths of up to 6 inches, and most models come standard with a 4-inch print width capacity, making it a great fit in the blood collection industry.
With the range of ZT printers comes a range of volume capabilities, but overall the ZT series is a better fit for higher volume printing than smaller desktop counterparts.
The range of options within the ZT label printer series allows you to choose the most suitable print volume model for your facility, whether you’re printing a few labels a day or 24/7.
The RFID capabilities of the ZT 400 series and ZT 600 series introduce unique opportunities to track blood and keep personalised information secure.
A stripped down industrial model that offers all the power at an economical price-point.

This printer is the premium model within the ZT series, meaning it’s ideal for high-volume, heavy-duty environments where it will face harsh conditions and high demand.
Check out the Zebra ZD series, a desktop print solution perfect for lower volume blood labelling applications. It’s compact size, 4-inch print width and range of features provide blood banks with an array of low volume options.
We have been supporting the blood collection industry for decades, by both providing labelling solutions and speaking out in regards to the importance of labelling regulations.
To complete your blood labelling solution we can provide you with blank ISBT label kits. Our kits include compliant blank ISBT labels, thermal transfer ribbon and a cleaning cloth for your convenience
As a series, Zebra ZT printers range in cost depending on several factors, the major ones being model, width capacity, print resolution and optional features.
The model you end up going with will affect your overall cost greatly, whether you choose a ZT 210, a ZT 421 or a ZT 620 will make all the difference! This is primarily because these printers offer very different feature sets that appeal to very different facilities.
A smaller facility might benefit from the stripped down ZT 200 series (or even a ZD series printer), where-as a larger facility might find a ZT 421 or ZT 610 would be a better match.
Here are the starting prices for each of the 3 levels of the ZT series:
ZT 200 Series: $980+
ZT 400 Series: $1,700+
ZT 600 Series: $2,800+
Once you’ve chosen your model, you still have options. One decision you’ll still have to make is which width option best suits your needs. In nearly all blood applications the ZT series’ standard 4 inch capacity is the most suitable option, however if your facility requires a 6 inch capacity you can expect to spend a bit more for the necessary accommodations.
In addition to the width capacity, models vary in their dpi capabilities. Different parts are required to achieve different levels of resolution—this typically translates as, the higher the dpi, the higher the cost.
Under certain circumstances high dpi is absolutely necessary, but in many cases a lower to moderate dpi is suitable. In the blood industry, high (600) dpi is typically only necessary on small scale vial labels, on moderately sized tubes and vials or bags, standard (203-300) dpi levels are suitable.
The ZT series offers several optional features that might not offer value to everyone—hence, why they are optional. Choosing to add an optional feature, such as a peeler or RFID encoding abilities, will add to your overall cost. This is why it’s so important to ensure any additional features will offer value to your facility in return.
