Tracking Service

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the service discontinue?

The service will discontinue on Oct 1, 2019.  From Oct 1 - Dec 1, 2019 you will have read only access to the barcode range history.

What is my last sequence number?

Until Dec 1, barcode range history will be available online via our website.  If you have an account with us, log in to My Account on www.computype.com and the range history is viewable under the My Library tab.

Where can I find my barcode range history?

Book vendors and libraries will still be able to pull ranges until Oct 1, 2019 and barcode range history will still be available to view online through Dec 1, 2019 if you have an existing account set up on our website.

If you have an account with us, log in to My Account on www.computype.com and the range history is viewable under the My Library tab.

Can you provide a list of schools that use the tracking service?

This information is also available online via the My Account feature.

Why are you discontinuing this service?

The reason is twofold, the demand for the service has decreased and changes to our infrastructure made it too costly to support.  The rise in price to our customers would have been markedly higher than rates users had paid in the past.   The business decision made is to end the service.

Can you refer me to another company who does tracking?

No, unfortunately, we have not found any providers who may offer this service.

How do I track my own numbers?

Since each library system is unique and orders vary from site to site, we can’t suggest a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach for tracking of numbers. That said, a spreadsheet is a useful tool to manage number ranges.

Will Computype still provide printed barcode labels?

Computype will still provide printed barcode labels and we will continue to maintain a history of the numbers we produce.  When placing an order with us you must provide the next start number to use.

How will my vendors get my next barcode range?

Vendors will need to contact schools or libraries directly for this information.
